Perfect. Worth every penny.

Well, there's already loads of excellent reviews for this place, so I really didn't have to write this, but the Dragonfly really is so good I feel it's my duty! 5 stars well deserved as there's not a detail out of place. It's a small boutique hotel, half a dozen or so rooms, and I don't think there's anything else like this in Chester. Everything as it should be, well maintained from the front door throughout, ultra clean, ultra smoke-free, plush furnishings, and a great retro-yet-modern artistic design and feel to the place. Our room had big flat tv and separate ipod dock speakers for the techno-types. Great breakfast slow-cooked on the Aga, with quality ingredients, even the yoghurts at breakfast were nice luxury ones! Kelvin and Lucie were wonderful hosts, just genuinely lovely people who really do want to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Free access to the pool / jacuzzi at the hotel 2 minutes' walk away too, nice bonus. The cost is of course higher than your average dreary hotel, but rightly so, and not overly so. It was our 10th Anniversary so I didn't want to mess it up with some expensive but average, over-corporate hotel - and in the Dragonfly I found the perfect place.

Worth every penny - eager to return.

From start to finish the experience was amazing. Kelvin was an absolute gem to have running the place and provided such amazing customer service. He directed us to the hotel and even called us back to check we hadn't got lost! A warm welcome and great advice on places to try, we'd never of found the places without his advice. Room (one) was quite possibly the nicest hotel room we've stayed in, the attention to detail was outstanding and the room decoration was so unique - and the bathroom...well...you have to go and see for yourself. Plush bath and fantastic shower with the all the top fittings you'd want to see in such a hotel. As for breakfast...it was worth the effort of getting out of bed for, without doubt, and Lucy's service matched the attention of Kelvin's. Hoping to come back and would recommend anyone whose going to Chester to go there and support them, because it's worth every penny.

Perfect hidden gem

From the minute we stepped into Hotel Dragonfly we were made to feel completely at home and welcome. The chap who greeted us (who i later found out was the owner) was friendly, professional and truly could not do enough to help us. He went out of his way to recommend various bars and restaurants and then made a reservation on our behalf once we had decided.
As it was my fiancees 30th birthday thay had given us a complimentary upgrade. The room was beautiful and contemporary with the most AMAZING bath and all the amenities you could need!!
Hotel Dragonfly is everything i wanted it to be and much more. I cannot describe how fabulous this hotel is. We will definately return in the future!

Perfect Stay

I can't rate this hotel highly enough, it was exactly what we wanted and is a real boutique hotel with very indivual touches and superb decor. The attention to detail is superb and the couple that run it were helpful, friendly, informative but not too intrusive as can sometimes happen in a small hotel.

We were recommended bars to drink in for pre-dinner drinks that suited our taste perfectly.

OK, let's get on to breakfast. The tables and chairs are funky and stylish and as far as I can remember all the table and chair sets are different. Even the radio was tuned to a trendy, funky station to enhance the mood. The food was delicious and cooked to order with quality ingredients.

We felt indulged from the moment we arrived and that's what we wanted from a 10th wedding anniversary break.

We will be going back.

An absolute pleasure from start to finish

We came to Chester for the weekend with some friends for a mini break and booked the Hotel Dragonfly as we were looking for something a bit more special than a big generic hotel, and we weren't disappointed! Right from booking on the phone with Kelvin, where he could not have been more helpful or pleasent, to (very reluctantly) leaving it was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. The building itself is beautiful, and decorated carefully and beautifully, from the design pieces dotted about, to the ipod docks in the rooms, to the colours faithfully chosen to complement the building and the crockery, cutlery and linen at breakfast, the attention to detail is stunning. The rooms were perfectly clean and the bed one of the comfiest I've ever slept in. Breakfast was like nothing you'd get in a generic hotel with bowls of chunky toast and AGA cooked eggs to your preference, as well as many other choices.
The hosts were approachable, friendly and beyond helpful, and genuinely interested in having a chat about what we'd been up to on our stay.
All in all, one of the nicest places I have ever stayed, and we definately will be returning in the future.

Modern Art!!!!

This was our fifth visit to Chester Races and the only negative aspect of staying at The Dragonfly is that this was the first time we could because it wasn't open last time we were in Chester. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the bed is amongst the comfiest I have ever slept in!!

The breakfast is well worth the money and comes highly recommended. The racecourse is literally over the road which means you are right in the heart of Chester the second you step out of the door. Kelvin and Lucy are wonderful hosts and cannot do enough for you. Just to ensure we get to stay there for next year's race day we have already pre-booked a year in advance!!

This is a 5 Star Boutique Hotel and is well worth every star. We enjoyed staying there so much that this is our first ever review on Trip Advisor because we felt the need to promote such a wonderful place.

Fantastic boutique hotel

My wife & I were fortunate to stay here for three nights after reviewing other tripadvisor reviews. This lovely georgian house has been renovated in a stylish & modern way whilst retaining its original character.

The room was fresh & clean and a pleasure to be in.

The owners were extremely friendly & helpful. They recommended & booked nice local restaurants & made us feel very welcome.

We would definitely stay here again & would not hesitate to recommend Dragonfly to others.

Fabulous Service, great room and excellent comfort

We stayed at Hotel Dragonfly to celebrate out 10 year anniversary and to enjoy one last break away before our baby arrives.

The room was decorated in a contemporary style but retained its Georgian character. The bed was huge and SOOOO comfortable.

We were really impressed by the service we recieved, the hosts couldn't have been more helpful. I was particularly impressed that they rang before we visited to check what I wanted to eat for breakfast as I'd told them I was Coeliac. Usually hotels say they can cater for me and then just tell me what I can't eat on the menu. It was really refreshing to stay somewhere that understood what I could and couldn't eat and were prepared to provide it.

We couldn't fault our stay and would love to return!

Fantastic Boutique hotel

We stayed as a short break for my fiance's birthday, and really enjoyed our stay- the owners were friendly and took the trouble to remember details, such as where we'd been the day before, which restaurant we'd booked etc. The rooms were spacious and very clean, and the fixtures and fittings were high-quality. The bathroom was well laid-out as well, and the bath was huge! We would definitely go again next time we're in the North-West.

Wish we stayed longer

My husband and I stayed at The Dragonfly for 2 nights to have a nice weekend away for his birthday. It is the first time we have stayed at a boutique style hotel and were very impressed from the moment we walked inside. The attention to detail was impressive and the room was lovely. The bathroom was modern with a sumptious bath and separate powerful shower and a toilet with softly closing seat (every woman's wish!). We had very enjoyable breakfasts with cereals, fruit, muffins, and a choice of cooked items freshly prepared. Unlimited juice and tea or coffee too.
We left the car at the hotel and were close enough to everything to be able to walk to all the places we wanted to see.
